First Year Tutorial: This Year (2009 - 2010)The First Year Tutorial runs for 23 weeks from wk3 of Autumn term to wk25 of Summer term. Although most materials in the tutorial are obviously discussed and demonstrated live, some materials can be provided online. > Click Here for material used in the current course. LaTeX CourseThe LaTeX Course is a beginners' course in the typesetting environment LaTeX for those wanting to use the system for producing publications, reports and thesis. > Click Here to download the task material for the LaTeX course. You MUST unzip this folder onto your H drive. Do NOT try to access and edit directly as this will not work. Other course materials are provided on paper only. Advanced LaTeX CourseThe Advanced LaTeX Course is for those about to begin writing up a thesis using LaTeX and is intended for those that have previously attended the beginners' course or have previous experience with the system. > Click Here to download the task material for the Advanced LaTeX course. Installing Linux CourseThis course provides a practical and hands-on experience in installing the latest distributions of the Linux operating system on a virtual machine. By the end of the course you should be confident enough to install Linux on your own machines. > Download VirtualBox and Debian. Course materials supplied on paper only. Tackling The Linux Command Line CourseThis course provides a hands on approach to using the Unix-style command line system, Bash. Through the course you will gain experience manipulating files and using popular Unix utilities for a variety of tasks. Course materials supplied on paper only. First Year Tutorial: Last Year (2008 - 2009)The syllabus changed in 2009, but much of this material is still useful for the current syllabus and might be reused in some tutorial sessions. > Click here for material used in 2008 to 2009.
